How to resize an image
Enter the dimensions
Set width and height in pixels. Enter only one side to keep the source image’s proportions.
Choose the fit
Crop to fill trims edges. Fit entire image adds white space. Prepare, inspect and download your result.
Resize, crop or add padding?
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions. Cropping removes part of the image to match a new shape. Padding keeps the whole image visible by adding space around it. Choose the option that matches your destination’s rules.
| Option | What happens | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Crop to fill | Fills the requested rectangle with a centred crop. | You need an edge-to-edge image. |
| Fit entire image | Keeps the full image and adds white space. | All original content must remain visible. |
| Stretch | Forces the requested shape and may distort the image. | Your task specifically requires stretching. |
Example: a 600 × 600 pixel image
Enter 600 for width and 600 for height. A landscape photo will lose content at the left and right with a centred crop. Fit entire image keeps the landscape photo and adds white space above and below. Check the preview before downloading, particularly when a face or important text sits near an edge.
Keep the original proportions
Enter only the width or only the height. The tool calculates the other dimension from the original proportions. This is useful when a website limits the width but does not require a fixed image shape.
Pixel dimensions and file size are different
A 600 × 600 image can still exceed a form’s KB limit. Add a maximum file size if needed. With explicit dimensions, the tool keeps those dimensions and reports an error if the requested file size cannot be met. For a size-first task, use the 100KB compressor.
Questions about this tool
Can I resize to 600 × 600 pixels?
Yes. Enter 600 in both fields and select Crop to fill, Fit entire image or Stretch. The result displays its final width and height.
Will making an image larger improve its detail?
No. Enlarging increases pixel dimensions but cannot recover detail missing from the original. Start with a source image large enough for your destination when possible.
Does the resizer support transparent images?
PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPG converts transparent areas to white. Fit entire image uses white padding when both dimensions are specified.
What are the output dimension limits?
Each side can be up to 8,192 pixels, and the total output is limited to 32 million pixels. Images that exceed the supported limits are rejected with an explanation.
